About the Product Stewardship Centre of Excellence

The Product Stewardship Centre of Excellence is an independent, not for profit charity, that seeks to reduce waste generation and create positive environmental and social outcomes through sustainable product design, resource conservation, product reuse, and recycling.

The Centre helps businesses, industries, and product stewardship organisations adopt a product stewardship approach to deliver their ESG and circular economy objectives.  Product stewardship is a key implementation pathway for manufacturers and brands to operationalise ESG policies and circular economy principles objectives.

It also provides independent advice on product stewardship priorities to the Australian government.

The Centre was established in late 2020 by a consortium comprising the UTS Institute for Sustainable Futures, the Australian Industry Group and Dentsu Creative with initial financial support provided by an Australian government grant. We would like to thank our foundation partners and the Australian government for their contribution to establishing the Centre.

Our Mission

To accelerate the uptake of product stewardship in Australia by mentoring, educating, and activating stakeholders across product and material supply chains.

Our Vision

To see the wide scale adoption of product and material stewardship principles into business models that reduce waste generation and create positive environmental and social outcomes through good design, improved resource productivity, and sustainable reuse.
